Because of this. I think the angle makes the head of the hammer look much closer to the edge than it actually is. I want to replicate it to see the layout for myself.

it looks like the base of the head where it meets the neck is directly under the edge of the table, which puts the important weight behind the contact point of the ruler and table. the annoying part will be getting the correct circumference of the string and the correct position on the ruler and hammer. mostly the string circumference.
