I've rented a few trailers from U-Haul this year alone (multi-trip move and hauling axles around a couple times). I have a 2" drop, and it was fine for the all the trailers I rented (4x6 enclosed, 5x7 enclosed, 4x6 open if I remember the sizes correctly), though they were all at a slight pitch. At the time, I had about 3" of suspension lift with a slight forward rake. I'm sitting higher and more level now, but haven't towed anything since
That said, if you've got little or no lift, a 2" is fine. U-Haul trailers generally have lower tongues anyway (since they can be towed by other cars/SUVs), so either would work.
