ball joint stuck

I have been banging on this thing for hours. Used a ball joint fork, BFH, crow bar and anything else I can think off. I wanted to try one of those ball joint presses but I don't think there is enough clearance to get it in. Help!

Isn't the ball joint and the lower arm sold as a unit?

I have a 2002 Q45. The suspension arm and the ball joint are one unit. The ball joint is pressed into the steering knuckle. I can't get it out. I have tried everything. According to the FSM the stud should come out after removing the cotter pin and nut. I must be missing something simple but this sucker will not budge. I have been pounding on the BJ fork for hours and still nothing.

I tried to insert a picture but that function apparently does not work.

I really need some help guys. The ball joint will not break loose. I even bent the pickle fork trying to pry the joint out. I have been soaking the thing in PB Blaster as well and still no luck.

Help please!!!

Well, there's unfortunately not much magic for ball joints. You just apply as much force as possible, sometimes some of the weight of the car to stiffen the suspension, and it's all about POWER, and the RIGHT ANGLE.

Worst case scenario, cut it off and find yourself replacing steel. If you're replacing the ball joint, use heat and heat cycle it a few times.

It finally came off I don't know if the pickle fork was at the right angle, I hit it harder or at a different angle, or the PB Blaster soaked through. It just popped out. Now I can't get the mounting bolts out but at least after 2 days I am making progress. I can't believe it takes all of this to remove three stinking bolts. I hate this.

Kinda makes one wish they just paid a professional the 1 hour labor charge, and enjoyed life, huh?
