Hello- So I am changing the ball joints on my 1990 240sx and managed to press out the old ones just fine with a Harbor Freight Ball Joint Press. My problem is that the new ball joints are loose in the control arms. They need to be pressed in but once the shoulder of the ball joint hits the control arm there is a small amount of play. I have double checked the part number of the Moog ball joints and I have the correct ones. It looks like pressing out the old units left a slightly larger hole. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I am posting this in the Infiniti forum because I own a Q and we seem to have more activity then the Nissan forum.

Thanks in advancePDQWRX (Scott)

hmmm, been playing the trade of transverse arm assy (big $$) vs. aftermarket balljoints, so i'm curious how this turns out.

i would suggest getting some calipers on the 2 balljoints and see if there is a slight diameter difference.

Well, since I already made the $100.00 investment into the moog ball joints I decided to weld them into the arms and next time (Provided I still have the car and haven't wrecked it learning how to drift) I will simply buy new from PDM Racing for about $125.00 with balljoints installed. The new ball joints needed to be pressed in but once they were at the shoulder (All the way in) they could be pushed out fairly easly about a 1/16 of an inch. Welding them in seems to work great and I have peice of mind. I also noticed a lot of rust from around the outside of the hole and there was rust on the old ball joints where they met the control arm so I figure when I pressed them out and removed the rust in the process, the whole got a little bigger.
