ball joint boot - ripped - need to replace boot but where?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

I recommend replacing the whole ball joint. PITA, but at least you will have piece of mind.

Cheers for the reply :

as you may be aware - the ball joint comes as one unit with the lower control arm - cannot just replace ball joint - as LO CO Arm is stamped steel - the boot is going now - if I can replace the boot a.s.a.p I think I can avoid 200$ now

yeah your better off replacing the whole joint. i did mine fore about $20 a joint. if the boot is torn dirt may have damaged the the ball of the joint and you may just have future problems.

Howdy Slickser:

I agree with replacing the balljoint as well- as I stated the local GOOD JAP IMPORT parts supplier tells me the ball joint is a non replace- stamped steel lower control arm will bend when pressing in

so until I find out for sure if the b15 - 16" rims do not have a replacement ball joint - I will have to just make sure I clean it good and replace the boot

I did have mentioned to me that Moog makes a replacement ball joint for a b14 - so I will check into that

I didn't know the b15's were one unit as well. I will look on the wifes car later and see.

Howy Red:

It is interedting - On a few pages I grab parts from - they all list the lower Control arm as only means of replacing ball joint

yet on another site someone told me that MOOG made a replacemet ball joint for a b15 16" rimand I did locate this - so who can say - if this boot I just put does not work - I will try the MOOG ball joint and see

Cheers
