Just wondering what some of you high horsepower ka owners have to say about having the crank balanced? the machine shop owner said " Its a waste of money on 4 cyclinders". is it worth the 150 $? or does the factory have it balanced to its best capacity? thanks

See out a less-stupid machinist. Most lettuce will qualify.

True that inline fours have an inherent secondary imbalance (hence the Mitsubishi Silent Shafts), but the bottom end will still want to be dynamically balanced.

The higher rpm's that engine is goona turn, the more perfect that crankshaft has to be, otherwise things have a tendency to fly apart. If i was building a high horsepower engine, that is the first thing i would do.

Good choice--do not forget the flywheel and the clutch. (turns out the pressure plate was the most out of balance on our motor) Well worth the $$

is it a component balance or do they balance the entire assembly (crank+flywheel+clutch+UD pulley+etc..)?
