My Z has been waiting to be driven for several months now and if it hasn't been one thing setting me back it's been another. I understand when you're building a high HP RB or something of the like that there will be set backs because of parts coming from overseas or shipping delays or maybe you're just try find a shop that knows what they're doing but over an effin windshield?

Over two months ago after I finished painting my car I was putting it back together and went to my coworker who is friends with a guy that has a windshield business, I was promised a good deal and speedy service. He ordered the windshield and told me it would likely be ten business days until it arrived. Ten business days came and went and I couldn't get him to answer the phone, then fifteen, twenty, twenty business and still no idea what's going on. At this point I'm ready to go to another company but everyone else wants twice the price this guy is stating, with a baby on the way my car budget is almost non existent so I decided to stick with the cheaper route. After six weeks from the date I called to order the windshield I finally get him on the phone sounding high/drunk/hungover whatever, he tells me some BS story about how he called several times and couldn't get me on the phone and that the manufacturer he ordered the windshield from no longer carries it and he needed my approval to order from this other company eventhough the price would be the same.

I tell that of course I want him to order the windshield from the other company because I have no winshield whatsoever and this is holding me up. I tells me another ten business days and he'll have it. Well that was three weeks ago and I've been calling him all week to find out what's up and he told me yet another story. Well today I found out the windshield is in but he's not installing it until monday (no idea why because I can't imagine this dude is that busy).

I realize setbacks happen, you get what you pay for, yadda yadda yadda, I realized thousands of car enthusiasts have been screwed over for far more but this isn't some custom piece, it's an off the shelf windshield, what should for all intents and purposes be the least of my worries. This is no way to run a business and I can guarantee I'll never do business with him again. In the future I will happily pay three times as much through another company. I have dealt with this guy before on my 240sx, had the windshield next day installed with new rubber for $150 and it's polarized too. He told me this story about the age of the car being why it's taken so long for the windshield, well I called several other windshield companies yesterday and they could all have it here today but they all have policies against using the rubber that I already have (brand new still in package) and say they have to use their rubber which not only makes it more expensive for me but the rubber I have would just sit there wasted.

Debating just buying a motorcycle helmet and driving the car as is.

I think I'd just call safelite and get the job done rightt awaw, and when the price it for you tell them you have a cheaper price elsewhere and chances are they will discount their price and at least get close to the other price, thats how mine worked out in my MR2

Well i finally ended up getting the windshield done by the guy, the whole time he kept making excuse after excuse, after he left I hopped in the car to reinstall the defroster vent cover piece, well the little tabs that stick up out of the dash that you screw the trim piece to, the idiot actually pulled the windshield rubber over those tabs. I had to go back and carefully pull the rubber off the tabs.

As a side note, to any S30 owners that read this, I can say the new Black Dragon Auto windshield rubber fits perfectly and seals great. I know some of the windshield rubber they use to put out a lot time ago had complaints from some of the HybridZ guys, they said it left gaps in the corner of the windshield, it still sealed apparently but looked horrible. The new rubber has no such gaps and is only $39!!

That's good information. I am going to have to replace mine and was wondering if the BD seals were any good. It seems to be hit or miss sometimes. Pictures???

I'll try to get some pictures today if I can, my girlfriend wants to break out her Nikon to get some nice shots of the car anyway. I've heard a lot of negative feedback on Black Dragon Auto that's why I wanted to share a good word about them. I did not reinstall the chrome trim because A) I didn't care for it and B) I already had a hell of time dealing with this idiot windshield guy so I wanted to make it as simple for him and his pissant brain.

I've had only good experiences with black dragon and I've never heard a complaint abotu them, they don't have the customer service of MSA but still a good supplier in my book, many of their parts are repackaged OE nissan parts

The only time I've dealt with MSA was several years ago, I ordered a bunch of T-shirts from them. About six weeks after the order I got a phone call from one of their employees saying the T-shirts were no longer in stock, the only other shirts they had weren't in my size, and that they weren't able to transfer my funds towards something else. I hope that person got fired. I personally think a lot of their stuff is overpriced and my personal complaint is they haven't seemed to update their website in many years, their tech section has been "coming soon" for about four years now.
