Sportbikes rule cars as far as cornering, gas mileage, and acceleration because of weight. Maybe 1/4 the HP of a fast car, but 1/8th the weight, the physics isn't that hard to work out. The article where the GSXR1000 owned the Z06 'vette was in either Motorcyclist or Cycle World, although thinking about it, I think it was Motorcyclist. Once you add enough aerodynamic and traction enhancements, cars will outrun bikes, but stock for stock, even street-modded car for stock bike, the bike's going to rule. (This assumes we're all talking open-class one-liter sportbikes, Aprilia Mille, Ducati 999, Honda 954, Honda RC51, Kawasaki ZX-9R, Suzuki GSXR 1000, Suzuki TL1000R, Yamaha R1) and if we're talking quarter-mile times, a slow bike runs 13s, most 600cc sportbikes run low 11s or high 10s, and the liter-bikes can run well into the 9s And yes, the big Gixxer is an instrument of SATAN:devil it will high-side you into the next county if you don't know what you're doing at all times.
