i have a sr20 blacktop and i just bought a greddy electric boost controller.before i put the controller on i would never have boost spikes ,it would sometimes go to 5 or 6 psi and other times it would stay at 8 psi and stay.this would would happen maybe 3 times a mounth or when it is cold weather, very rarelly.i put the controller on and now i try to boost it to 14psi and it jumps up to 17psi or so then come back down to 14psi or so.it also sometimes when the boost increaces it not so smooth,it jumps up.the turbo also has a decent amount of shaft play but no smoking.any suggstions before i buy a wastegate?? thanks

i could be your boost controller. Did you try to take the boost controller off and see if it still does it?

The greddy controller is known to do that. Btw, doy uo have anything done to the motor other than simple bolt ons? Oh, and grammer goes a long way!

If you have a t-25, why are you boosting 14 lbs anyway. The turbo is past its efficiancy!!! Max is 12 lbs.

I had a Z32 and an afc. Do your self a favor and take both of those off. Put your stock maf on or a sohc maf and sell your afc. You need tuning for the z32 and a afc IS NOT TUNING! Save your z32 for the future.

After you do this then take your sr for a drive and watch how much better it drives.

Hmmm. Sounds like it could be the waste gate then, but I couldn't tell you for sure. I didn't know you had the motor tuned, my bad.

The HKS wastegate is used instead of boost controller. You can adjust it to what you like. It's just a pain in the *** to drive it and see what boost your at and then readjust it. But if your having boost spike problems that will for sure fix your problems. I say sell the greddy and get you a HKS if your willing to adjust it untill your happy. Problem- no hitting of a button to raise your boost.
