Hey Everyone,

I Have a 2002 QX4 with 196,000 km on it.

It has developed a bad vibration and it only seems to be getting worse.

It starts at around 50km and is the worst around 70-80km. It does smooth out abit around 110-120.

It feels like its in the front end. The whole front of the truck seems to vibrate and its hums loud too.

The vibration seems to change with how much load or throttle you are giving it. And hitting dips and bumps can almost change the vibration. Sometimes its worse then others. Its not constant like a bad wheel bearing.
In AUTO and 4x4 it is much worse! I can also almost hear a slight clicking noise in the front end (only sometimes) in the last couple feet when coming to a stop.

Any help would be awesome! i need to get this fixed asap.
Thanks!

a hum/whistle = possible bearings going bad

the vibration could be caused by either wheel alignment issues along with the bad bearings getting loose....

-you can jack up the truck and check for play holding the wheen @6 and @12 and/or @9 and @3
Oclock
-if its excessive you should go run to your nearest mechanic ASAP...

Could be a U-Joint on the front prop shaft. It sounds like wheel bearings to me though.

Yes im not sure either but i will try jacking up the truck. The reason i dont think its a wheel bearing is the vibration seems to be in the front and while in rear 2wd, the vibration and noise can change with how much throttle or load.

For Example, when im doing 70 and my foot very slightly on the gas, the vibration is pretty bad. But if i take my foot off the gas and still doing 70 most of the vibration stops. Would wheel bears be alot more consistant with the speed of the truck?

Thanks

Maybe it is a cv joint or an axel? I can hear a mechanical clicking sound when doing about 10km. But turning in tight circles does not effect it ?
