Here's the thing,I decided to do a daily maintence to my car.I decided to put new NGK spark plugs and NGK spark plugs wires in so i ordered them from sparkplugs.com. Then while i waited for the stuff to come in i went to autozone to buy new cap and rotors.Took the distributor out change the cap and rotors and put it back in.Here's a dumb mistake,I turned the distributor and messed around with it(turning the distributor left and right) and now i don't know where's TDC at now. Then my brother helped me out,he said my distributor timing is wrong and probably my base timming too so i did both of the guide at http://www.ka-t.org/tech/ .I took out my valve cover and crank it to TDC so the #1 cylinder piston is all the way up. When i started up the car it sounded like it was about to start but it didnt' want to,but it was to dark to continue and called it a night.I was hoping i could get some help by tommorrow, I wanted to fix the car after my soccer game so i could just start right on the car.thanks alot

Did you check all of your grounds? If you have a 91-98 series, theres a ground on the back right bolt of the valve cover that needs to be connected. Be sure the teeth are at the correct "oclock" position for setting base timing.

Timing light would probably help.

I think i have a timing light in my storage yard but i thought you have to make the car run in order to use the timing light don't you? How can i use it if i can't make hte car start?

To set your distributer the easiest way, take off the valve cover and make sure you are entering TDC on the first cylinder. Then bring the motor around until the pin on the front timing cover is on the very first mark on the crank. This is 20 degrees BTDC.

Pull off the distributer cap, but note where the first point is while you are looking at the rotor. Its actually pretty easy you just have to line the rotor up with the first corner (the point nearest the plug-in, its the part where it goes from round to flat). This is obviously a crappy description, but once you pull the cap off you'll know just what i'm talking about.

I'f none of that makes any sense at all, and it probably doesn't, you just need to make a mark on the side of the distributer before you take the cap off. Then once the cap is off just line the rotor up with the mark you made. You might have to come up with your own method, but that is definately the easiest explanation i can give you.

You can set your timing visually without a timing light. You're not going to be exactly on, but you'll be close. I don't use a timing light, and i havent had problems, but i'm not gonna recommend this to you. At least you can get the car running pretty well, probably almost spot on... you just might wanna throw some 93 in it...
