bad throwout bearing

how can you tell if your throwout bearing is bad?

Im not 100 percent on this, but i had a throwout bearing go out on my 280ZX-T a while ago. It makes a nasty sounding noise when your off the clutch. When you push in the clutch the noise stops. Or it might be exactly the opposite, its been a while.

Like he said..there's quite a bit of noise.

I had a throw-out bearing diagnosis once, but it ended up being one of the springs in the clutch disc had somehow popped out and was grinding against the other components....wasn't pretty. So it ended up not being the throw-out bearing at all. I think mine may have been a freak accident sort of thing though.

yea, mines not bad, but my buddy zues' vr4 had it go..holy crap it was louder than his exhuast
