ok so if i am taking a turn at higher speeds, ( 40 MPH or more) the steering kindof "shifts" or clunks over and seems loose. could this be worn bushings on my tension rods or something else? i plan on taking a look under there when i get back home in a few weeks and im just trying to get an idea on what parts i should be pricing out, cause something under there needs work.

i have a bad bushing on one side (other side isnt great, but it makes it noticably uneven). i dont experience any point where i feel it shift, but it is wobbly and it drifts to the outside of turns a little. sometimes when i go over bumps...like a speed bump, i will hear a like a rubber squishing noise, other than that there is no noise associated with it. if you look under there at the bushings, u should be able to tell if they are bad. look for cracking in the rubber, and/or rust around it and adjacent parts (from the liquid coming out).

Steering wheel shakes, you get weird clunks from the front of the car, going over speed bumps is followed by odd noise, steering feels weird when turning. You can't do it yourself (well you CAN, but not correctly) you will need to take them off and take them to a shop. Also, I have heard that the poly bushings can cause the LCA to crack unless you drill holes in them. I opted for pillow ball ones from http://www.ProjectSilvia.comhttp://cgi. ... s...33593A lot like those.

hmmm, i was looking at the whiteline ones from PDM, i dont want to take it to a ****ing dealer cause i'm poor. i was reading more on it and i am pretty sure the bushings are shot (at least the drivers side one). damn i need to fix this before it gets worse but i also need to pick up a new trunkhatch from the junkyard (mine is rusted out from the spoiler, suprise suprise) and i'ts the only one i can find in my area.

The clunk could also be a bad front strut mount, as they have a ball bearing assembly that rotates with the strut when you turn the wheel. I had something similar before I replaced the upper mounts when I did my RS*R springs.

Both of my tension rod bushings are cracked and leaking - the only real noticeable symptom I have is a little shimmy at higher speeds. They are shortly to be replaced with heim joint rods.
