Hi, real quick I need some advice. I live in Arizona and got pulled over last month for supposedly doing 85 in a 45. It was 1 in the morning and the road was empty, just getting home. Out of nowhere i see the lights and a sheriffs truck pulls me over. They immediatley cuff me and threaten to take me to jail and proceeded to do the breathalizer and search the car. Anyway he also tried to pin me for racing even though the only car on the road turned before i strted to accelerate. He also said i didn't have my insurance which was in the front of my wallet. He dropped the insurance and racing charges eventually. I have to appear in a few days but I'm pretty sure I can get it rescheduled due to school. Any advice or sugggestions? I consider myself to be a good driver as having no incidents since i got my license 2 years ago. Also the measurement of speed was pace. Im paying $75 a month on my 93' 240sx and want to keep it that way muhaaa.

That's pretty serious. Doesn't sound like the sheriff would have written anything too friendly on the back of the ticket for the judge to read, either. Best advice I could probably give is to get a lawyer. It will cost you some, but I have a hard time believing it won't be worth it in this case.

You sound like you don't have too much money so if you're charged with a mistameanor you could get the court to appoint you lawyer for free. If it is an infraction, you're not really going to be able to do anything with a lawyer, so you should be able to do taffic school.

If you've got the misdameanor go to the first hearing, tell the court you need a court-appointed attorney (I'm a broke student your honor, sir please sir) and they will probably give you one. Than show that lawyer you're a VERY good student, love your mom and dad, want to pay taxes eventually, and he'll get it reduced to something that will not ruin your whole day.

Good luck, I got off a ticket about a million years ago (well not quite that long) that was a competition of speed ticket that I frankly deserved and paid a simple speeding ticket, which the judget let me do traffic school for. The key was that lawyer and convining him I was usually a good boy.

i was in the same situation this week, i jsut got a 65- in a 35 ticket at 1am by a cop that paced me !! he didnt use any radar or laser and was only behind em a block an half ! i know i could beat it, but when i went into find what court room to goto the lady told me this is a payable fine! or ( and i know this was prob the attempt to get me to give up cash) but she told me that the judge would most likely not let me leave with a license if i went into the court room and was found guilty, since the speed was so excesive and of the road it was !! so i was liek well ****,, i want to play it safe, HOW MUCH is it , well a Ball busting 215.00$ for that damned ticket, i unhappily whipped out the chedda and payed it, then had her go through my MVR just to make sure it would keep well under my points limit for the last 2 yrs !! First off this is not Palmerwmd, this is Former_240_S14, I am at Freds place just hanging out.

I had a pretty bad ticket the a couple of months ago...it was like a 75 or 80 in a 35, lol! I was attempting to show a really really snooby spoiled girl why my s14 would kick her eclipse gs's a$$ and it so turns out that a cop was a neighborhood away and heared me, lol. Well I got lucky and know a bunch of sheriff's that helped me out and got me outta the ticket. All I can say is that I am one lucky mofo!!!

85 in a 45 is still considered excessive speeding even at 1am. But you definitely should call a lawyer. A lawyer is much better equipped to find an escape for you than a chat room.

I Got pulled over Christmas day doing 69 in a 30. The cop long story short checked me out everything was fine so he gave me a “failure to obey a traffic devise” 80 dollars verses 395 dollars for what I was really doing.

Well, get the calibration records for the device he was using to detect your speed, ask for the records about his training, ask how long he has been on the force, ask about his training with the device he was using, ask how old the device is, ask everything you can before you get in the court room. And also get a lawyer.

He said the cop paced him, pinhead. No radar gun was involved.

You play with the bull, you get the horns - simple as that.

Hope people don't think you're a ****head when you're doing YOUR job.

Just went to court yesterday to get continuace on court date and the judge told me it was a $260 ticket I could pay it our plead not guilty. I deicded I would just pay it because there was a chance I could get my license suspended if i lost the case which i most likely would seeing as the cop was an *** and try to come down hard on me. Anyways got 3 points on the license:( :( Im praying the insurance wont find out because I read somewhere that it goes up 60% for 3 points in which case I would be working just to drive.

Well, Consider it a $260 lesson not to drive like an ***, so a *** cop wouldn't pull your *** over again. Your insurance company will get notified, it's just a matter of time. But your rate increase, if there is one, would likely come when it's time to renew your coverage...Good luck...

Next time you have to go to court, walk in, try to lick your ear, and plead insanity. If OJ can manage not to get convicted, you might be able to Johnny Cochran your way out of a ticket too.
