Just installed my megan racing dp and catback, using the stock gutted cat pipe, on my s14. Now i get this funky smell that smells kindof like burning clutch from my engine bay. No smoke comming from anywhere. I noticed on the exhaust that there was kindof a waxy coating on the inside of the pipes. I am hoping that this is just burning off? otherwise somthing is seriously messed up with my car. any ideas

Yeah thats right, sniff your exhaust :rolleyes:I highly doubt anything bad happened to your car, it might be exactly what you said, the waxy coating getting burnt off.

well, I didn't mean stick his nose in the muffler and take a big whiff :P

Just meant take a little sniff and see if it smells odd

already did (im a smart one, smelling exhaust) i couldnt really smell it comming out of the back, smelt like regular no cat exhaust. I hadnt been driving for long so maybe only the dp heated up enough to burn the coating and the rest of the pipes were still cold enough...? *fingers crossed*

just go for a nice, long drive and when you get back, see if it is still doing it. probobly a coating on the inside to prevent rust before you put it on your car.

A few months ago i had been working on my 240 all day and noticed a smell from underneath the car. I couldn't figure out what it was for like 2 hours. Finally i took a break. Ate lunch and showered. Came back and the smell was gone. Thank god, that was some nasty funk.
