I have a bad rack on the passenger side of the vehicle and I was wondering if anyone has had to do it on their G50 and how complex is it for the DIYer? If not, what should I expect to pay at the dealership or T3 since I am in Atl if I have my own parts? I need to replace my upper links and tie rod end also on the passenger side so I can do all at the same time. Car has a well maintained 250k miles Mobil 1 synthetic, new sparks, BG44K, etc., etc., just need to freshen up the parts that hit the road.

Search for the thread, "Suspension Parts for Dummies" or something like that. It doesn't discuss the rack, but it does talk about all the other stuff.

Bring your own parts [every single tiny thing don't miss a washer or screw] at T3 is $99 per hour for labor. This is still a deal since you can buy parts for 25% off retail from Inet.Mitchell Guide is used for labor time.

Sure you need a new rack or just a rack boot [just cracked or cracked and leaking a little or a lot]?

I did mine this past summer with the help of a friendly technician here.Took a couple hours, nothing too complicated at all.

If you mildly hands-on and have the FSM it should be an honest couple of hours for you.

The rack that is.

There is a kit for a rebuild if you think the internalx are in specification.

Joe sells an American rebuilt and Nissan original.

Irax said he would get a deal for NICO members that is the same rebuild as Joe sells.

Be sure to get rack mountings also. Available polyurethane also aftermarket.

Yeah, its a bad rack. I have been told that it is bad during my last few oil changes and I get an occasional clicking sound on that side when I am turning @ low speeds such as backing up into a parking spot. My question I guess really is whether or not things like the tie rod and upper links have to be taken off during a rack change and if so I will just replace it all?
