Can someone with experience tell me why this would be a bad purchase?

I know that Megan has come through with some prettty decent suspension, so.... how's their exhaust?

i would say it is a pretty good exhaust, imo, exhausts are exhausts.. depending on the style you get and the db it puts out. i have purchased a universal apex and got it mounted at a muffler shop with a custom cat back 2 3/4 piping. sounded great.. but megan has come out with great suspension, but dont know how they do with exhausts, but you can never go wrong with that price.

Cool thanks a lot. Hey, you sound like you have experience with custom fabbing exhausts.. My motives may seem questionable, but... I want to purchase a good exhaust or a decent exhaust at least, and shorten it a few feet by cutting and rewelding. Use a back hanger, or custom fab my own hangers, and paint the exhaust black, then rig up the stock exhaust muffler so it looks completely stock. Are there any real risks to shortening the exhaust? Under car heat issues/too loud by shortening/bad tone? I know it's probably difficult to get everything to fit up well, but I have the tools and the time, just need some advice!

[The reason is, the car must look completely stock. There is high theft at my school, and cops will pull you over around there for the dumbest thing. I even got pulled over when I had my greddy exhaust on my old gsr turbo. I was stopped at a light, and he pulled me over, without even hearing it, and yes greddy exhausts are very quiet. Even asked me to pop my hood, and if I didn't have that carb sticker for the turbo, I would have been in serious trouble. So you see, it's crucial that I NEVER get pulled over, especially after going ka-T!!]

bump, anyone? Shortening megan exhaust and rewelding it, hanging it, and then chopping the muffler off stock exhaust to make it look like it's hooked up but it just hangs there? for stock look? More detailed description above

as long as it is well-done, you can cut and re-weld your exhaust to fit your needs. i cant comment on how stock it would look, or if it would pass a roadside inspection etc... i cant comment on the legality of the situation youre putting yourself into besides the fact i know ca is like a huge vagina about emissions and the environment.

Roadside inspections? I've never encountered one, though I had a friend that got stopped at a DUI checkpoint, and the cop stuck his nose in the car and wrote him a ticket for his boost gauge (mr2 Turbo) saying that it was an illegal aftermarket mod. Cops here dont really know what they're doing. I think at worst, if a cop stuck his snout under my car and saw my DIY exhaust, id just get an exhaust fix-it ticket.
