bad o-ring?

i took off the fuel pump cover off my s13 coupe and noticed that there was some gas puddles if you will, around that general area, its not alot, like you cant see a puddle on the ground, but you can definately smell it from the cabin and on the outside of the car, could this be a bad o-ring or is there a hole somewhere in the top of my tank.. any help would be appreciated.
