I have a high pitch whine when the car is under moderate load acceleration. Showed up after an hour of driving the other night. The whine dissipates when you bring down the throttle. My gestimate is the output shaft bearing on the tranns.

Welcome to NICO!

At 205k miles the trans probably is on borrowed time if it's not been replaced... Can you tell where it's coming from? Another thing to consider would be the rear differential...

I'd check/change fluids and hope for the best. If it's not a really loud whine, it might be something that takes years to progress in to all-out failure.

My Frontier has exactly the same whine... I'm hoping fluid changes will help. Sadly, I've had the fluid sitting on a shelf for a couple of years and it hasn't sprouted feet and put itself into the truck yet.

Yep,drive train does need a good fluid change. I noticed a carrier bearing in the torque shaft on some diagrams, bet that needs greasing.
