Post

Hi, I had this altima coupe 2.5s 08 since June 07 and went to my lovely dealer numerous times.I had following problems..1) Rattling heatshield (fixed after 5 months)2) Engine knocking sounds like a very very old truck. I feel very embarassed when I drive this car when its cold out(I went to dealer for this since July 07 and still not fixed)3) vibrating while idle (same above)4) passenger side airbag coming on with a person (They failed to verify the problem so I am hallucinating)5) Knocking noise when I turn (same above)6) rattle from passenger side dashboard (I don't even care anymore, I will sing to this rattle. also failed to verify)7) rattle from rear radio (same above)8) break squealing front and back (front brakes fixed and been waiting for new back brakes for a month and half)9) My neighbor fails to stop at his stop sign and hits me with his bmw and my bumper cracked and my fender was damaged but I did not have any rattles or any problem from the accident because accident was very light. I went to dealer for dashboard rattle and all other problems. I left the car there. next day, they gave me a piece of plastic part and said that was the problem. of course, they blame it on the accident although I had these problems way before this accident. I drive back and I hear rattles. So I paid money for nothing. 11) I have called nissan headquarters several times and they told me they will do something. Today they called me with "sorry"

I am ****ing sick of this ****ing car. I regret buying this car every second of my life. I have worked my a** off to get this piece of *** and this is what i get. I should have not just got it because it looks nice. I can't do lemon because its too late and my genius neighbor. I am going to contact nissan for the last time. If anyone out there sharing same problem as me or pissed at nissan for unfair treatment. let's form a group and contact nissan and make them realize they must do something instead of "sorry"

Sell it to someone in canada, so you get more money out of it.

Not to laugh at your problems but I'm laughing right now because I'm so passed being pissed off now, that I have no other choice but to put up with all the $hit I've been through and alot HAS been fixed. I really started to hate the car but I get people gawking and asking me about the car at traffic lights all the time, even almost a year after it's release. Yah I got sold on the exterior, and truthfull if I had waited, I would've been driving an Accord Coupe no lie. But hey, it's exclusive to North America and Middle East and not a $hitload of people have them YET....

You should see my posts, find my post on POOR QUALITY CONTROL and you will see that this and that post almost identical! That's another thing that was funny. But again TRUST ME brother I feel your pain!!!!!

Well I can understand recalls, because all manufacturers have them and its no cost to the owner; but when it comes to squeaky brake pedals, bad clutches and sagging headliners its a royal pain in the arse!!!!

Sorry to say the problem isn't just the 2.5; it applies to 3.5's too, they aren't invincible, it's the same car with a different engine.

So, instead just wish you had bought another car all together, like a G or Z!

Is selling the car on the private market an option? Selling it back to the dealer is completely out of the question, it will get you down at least 5K instantly.

If you can manage to sell the car for a few grand less than what you bought it for... Maybe that sounds viable? If the 2.5 can be sold for roughly 20K, then a used 350Z or G can be acquired for less, to offset the loss of selling the coupe. Sounds like hardly a too high price for being happy with a car?

BTW I can't hear any rattles cause of my sub As far as I know, they don't even exist! An aftermarket exhaust helps too. If a noise is just that, a noise, then drown it out!

Thank you for your concerns guys!I am going to actually talk to nissan headquarters and ask how much it will be to trade in this piece of s***. I am thinking about getting 2.5 again or if 3.5 isn't that much expensive I am going to think about getting it (I highly doubt this) and my last option will be buying used car. I have 12k on this coupe and currently my bumper and fender have to be replaced. how much do you think it worth?

prwhitecoupe I hope you get all of your problems fixed man. I hope there isn't another person like me.

I work for a nissan dealership, thats why i recommend lease to my custoemrs and for myself for problems like ur having as we speak. For example if your fiancing the car, im sorry to say you are hit, dont even try to trade it in to a dealership, they will giove you nowhere near what you paid for it, as far what you will get for it I can get you the trade in value. which would be wholesale value not retail. Dealerships are not oing to give u what you piad for it, they will give you wholesale, so if you want give me the options and I will tell you what you would get in a dealership and privately. good luck

NEW YORK STATE LEMON LAW GUIDE REQUIRMENTS

1. Number of Repairs The New York lemon law requires (1) the same nonconformity, or condition has been subject to repair four or more times by the manufacturer or its dealers within the first 18,000 miles of operation or two years following delivery. These issues arise.

A. Can you bring a claim beyond the mileage limits of the statute. The lemon law speaks of a presumption; can you file a claim beyond the statutory limits but not use the presumption. You can file a claim on other grounds - breach of warranty- without meeting the mileage limits.

B. What is the Same Problem Four repairs of the same problems is required. Clever manufacturer will argue that a condition involves two or three different problems so that the same problems was not repaired four times.

2. Seriousness The problem must substantially impair the use, value, or safety of the vehicle.

3 Damages Permitted The statute speaks of a repurchase. The statute is not clear about whether attorney's fees are recoverable in an attorney general arbitration. It appears that that other damages are not allowed such as loss of time from work, punitive damages, or mental injury. A consumer may choose to file a claim under other laws to assert those types of claims

Typical Manufacturer Defenses Under the New York Lemon Law

1. Not the Same problem Manufacturer sometimes present technical arguments suggesting there are two or more conditions present on a series of repairs, rather than the same problem occurring 4 times.

2. The Problem has been Corrected There has been ongoing discussion about whether a claim can be presented if the problem was corrected. Manufacturer sometimes argue the problem has been or occasionally can be corrected.

3. The car is working within specifications. Lemon laws are subjective processes, the claim must be objectively shown. Manufacturers sometimes present detailed specifications, usually unknown to consumers, and explain how the car is working within those, even those a problem is claimed. Frequently the specifications do not encompass the specific problem.

4. Owner abuse or modification As soon as it is learned that the owner put in a radio, did an oil change or changed the vehicle in any way, a manufacturer may attribute subsequent problems to that.

And just for the record, i think the # of coupe's with success stories far outweigh the # of problematic coupes.

The first weekend i had my car, it needed an ABS controller. Has been running like a top ever since.

Only rattle that i have, is from the passanger seat back adjustment slider (the one that faces the drivers seat). The plastic handle rattles. will easily be fixable

I think a deduction you can make here is that - sometimes even new cars have problems.

A lot of the post here are 2.5ers with problems, how many 3.5ers are also have problems, we should put up a poll

Also seems like most of the problems are not engine related. Do you think the build quality would be any different between the two engines? I agree with PearlWhteCoupe on that point.

The other part of the equation is the fact that it seems the replacement parts have not caught up yet. A problem part that gets replaced is a hell of a lot better than being told you have to wait for a Ship to come in.

So just like a used car purchase - thoroughly inspect and test drive your next major purchase.

i took mine in on 3k for mainty specified to double check on the brake pedals cuz they were louder than my mom's 2000 cammary..

the answer they gave me the first time

" dont worry, it was just some sand caught between the pads.."

WTF

took it in second time because it's really getting louder and louder

this is the answer i got

" we had the techs inspect the breaks but they couldn't find the problem. it is not squeaking now at least."

i got in the car drove it around and the squeak was loud as f***

anyone got any suggestions?

This is very weird for me to hear to be honest. Although I do have a lot of squeaking and annoying stuff.. the dealer has no problem fixing anything. I broke my radio and tehy asked no questions and ordered me a replacement today. I was there yesterday by teh way. When I go back I'm gonna show them the squeaky seats and rattles and clutch and they said they'd fix it too. My first dealer was a bunch of idiots so I went to one a bit further. Consider switiching dealers.. although its a bit ofa drive.. it's made life much easier.
