Sorry to hear about all that. My condolences.

The problem isn't really about age or even mileage for that matter. I have a 91 FB with over twice the miles yours has and, well, let's just say my repair list is significantly shorter. That's not to say I haven't had to fix stuff up... far from it; almost immediately after I bought the car, I had to replace the clutch, both of it's pneumatic cylinders, the water pump, all the filters and the brake master cylinder, as well as resealing the transmission. Needless to say, I was pissed. But since then, I've never had a major problem, and as you can see in my signature, the car still runs great.

My advice would be to sit on it for a while. Fix the transmission and see where you are by then. If you find that you're still having problems, you probably scored yourself a lemon and should ditch it. Is buying an S14 a solution? Some might think so, but not me. If you get one, you'll have to shell out a little extra cash (since it's newer) and count on the fact that when the car DOES get older, it WILL need fixing. It's inevitable. Financially, it's better just to keep your car and hope for the best.

This thread is a good example of why people shouldn't be buying 240's. If they don't want to bother puting money into just restoring it you shouldn't get a 240 at all.

Thats why you have all these fwd cars. Sorry but thats why you see 30 year olds in japan drifting and not 16. I would love to have an S2000 but insurance = teh rape

I'm sorry man, i feel bad for you...

But i kind of agree with w1ngzer0: don't buy an s13 (or any old car for that matter) if you're not willing to do a little restoration. On the other hand, why did you waste your time and money repairing everything... it's an old car and doesn't sound like it was well taken care of, you should have just bought a new engine when you started having problems, now that everyone's getting SR20's there's a lot of perfectly good KA's out there, for example not too long ago i saw - right here on NICO - a guy that was selling a 97 KA with like 60k miles for just 300 bucks, it seems like a better alternative IMO.

thanks man ill wait and see what happens...honestly i liked that car when it first came up and im just having bad experiences right now. The transmission is the only problem left to fix and its pretty much fully restored so ill wait and see what happens then. And yeah I did spend a ton of money on it but i agree with you also wingzero. Too many ppl buy this car just cause of the drift craze thats going on. I don't know if what you said was directed to me or not but not 16.

thanks man yeah I just started thinking about putting in another ka24 from someone that dropped a sr20 in as thats a good alternative, I think me spending all that time and money to fix it was a bad idea when it could have been good enough to me a SR20 or about 10 KA24s -_-
