Yesterday while washing my car it locked down and won't start. It has totally locked down. I had it towed to my home because it was Sunday and I'm having it towed to the dealership today.

What do I mean you may ask? It won't start, the doors won't lock, the windows won't open, the HOOD and TRUNK won't pop open. I suspect I triggered the alarm system and it shut down. It systematically did this, first the engine (with the lights still on), then the door locks, then eventually the lights.

While the lights were still on there was a light indicator on the dash of a car with a key in the middle. I looked in the manual and it said this indicates a malfunction and take it to the dealership immediately (under troubleshoot).

I am very concerned but optimistic that it is the wonderful alarm system. I will let everyone know when I return from the dealership today.

Thanks The dealer has no idea what is the problem. They said they're keeping it overnight  I have a loaner so it will be ok.

Has anyone heard of this problem in any new Nissan?

Crystale, I see you made a couple additional threads about your issue. Please keep all discussion in this one thread. No reason to make new ones

Lets see what your dealer says tomorrow. Seems to be an odd issue. Best of luck!

The battery was totally dead according to the dealer. 2 of the cells are gone. They said Nissan would not let them replace the battery but they recharged the battery. I don't know if I'm happy with that resolution.

I wouldn't be happy with just a recharge if two cells are dead battery probably won't have much of a life

Uhh, crap. I remeber one day i stalled my car and it wouldnt start up again. I blamed it on the weather cuz it was like -18C. I know it should have started up because its a new car and all but it didnt. I thought it was the battery as well, maybe in a bit my cars not going to start?

That sucks boss man. Let us know for sure what caused this if the stealership ever let's you know. I can't imagine that happening to me while I'm out one night.. I'd be screwed!

I would suggest that you CAREFULLY read over your warranty statement and see what is covered and what isn't. How old is the car?

I know in the world of john deere, if a customer's tractor is just out of warranty and it has a failure, the customers usually get satisfaction by calling john deere directly and escalating to higher powers. They usually wind up with out of warranty assistance.

I know your still in warranty. I said that about john deere suggesting that you could probably call nissan corporate if the stealership screws you
