no. it should be in there pretty solid. open the hood, start the car, put it in gear and try to move a little while holding the brakes/e-brake. if the motor moves back and forth the mounts are shot.

just from what you said, the mounts are probably cracked

If the motor mounts are shot you should see this black liquid leaking from your mounts or the easy way is to open the hood and kick your motor to see if it moves any hehe...

fluid filled mounts to help dampen vibration. it looks like oil when they leak. you will be able to move the engine very slightly even with good mounts. the tall tale sign is when you are taking off from a stop or when your trans shifts it feels like someone bumped into your car. its like a thump.

mine still seems to be shifting fine, no thumps or what not. what all is involved in replacing them? raising up motor? unhooking driveshaft?? thanks

There are only 2 motor mounts, one on each side of the cradle. and one transmission mount. You should be able to get to both of them wth that techniqe. Its not gonna be a real fun job though :(

It's not too bad. I put a piece of wood on my floor jack and jacked the engine up a couple cranks under the oil pan. Be sure to use wood or something, don't want to dent the oil pan do ya? and I replaced both mounts In about 45 min.
