was wondering how do you tell if you have a bad maf??

these are the symptoms:

- car sputters at idle (it feels like its spitting)- has trouble reving pass 3500 rpm, it sputters at 3500 and than its able to go above that and it doesn't feel like its making any power.- rich smell of gas, gives me the impression i'm running rich.

thanks any help would be appreciated.

my guess its a bad maf sensor.

This is basically what my j30 did when its MAF went bad...

symptoms would happen all of the sudden --engine would lose power then itwould stutter or buck if I tried to accelerate. Off and on like this usually after the car was warmed up.

Running in this condition will also mess up your O2sensors eventually -- which it sounds like they are already absorbing too much gas, so they could be a problem now too.
