Ok, well I just swapped in my Ca18det into my 90'240sx...everything was running smoothly until i came upon some bad luck. While i was taking a trip up north, somehow my EFI harness came loose and landed on my Turbo Manifold, resulting in some melted wires! Here is my problem, after pulling the wires off of the turbo manifold, it still started up and would run fine...but when i tried to get it back to my garage it all of a sudden died. Now, I am not getting any spark what so ever, and i am pretty sure it fried the brain to my alarm! The wires that landed on the manifold and melted are as follows....B, B/Y, R/G, Y, Y/W, L/OR, L/G and LG/R. I cut out the wires that were fried and spliced and saudered new wires in and it still won't start. I am open to any suggestions...but i think it either fried the Ecu, or its the power transitor...I checked all the fuses and they seem fine. I am in a real bind here and if anyone can help a fellow Ca owner that would be great...Thanx...

Try to do a diagnostic on your ecu and see what codes it brings up, chances that you fried the power transistor module since it is more sensitive module then the rest.

your problem could be caused by power transistor, faulty ecu, or faulty CAS, check for any damaged or cut wires as well.

Good luck,

1st question would be, how did you let your harness get to your exhaust manifold. CA18DET wiring does not run near the manifold, unless you took some other approach! Anyway like pulsar GTR said, you possibly smoked that power transistor which in turn possibly took out the eccs relay, crank angle sensor and/or the ecu itself. If you had this thing wired up correctly, you would have had some blown fuses protecting the ECU or hopefully it's relay is just out.

First off, I appreciate the ideas and the help and i am pretty sure it just fried the ecu...I will find out soon enough because i ordered one this week...but boost boy, i would appreciate it if you wouldn't question my knowledge of the swap with a smart comment about my wiring. I know exactly how to run the wiring and it was secure on my firewall. No disrespect to your knowlegde either and i am not trying to be rude, but i am just trying to get other people's ideas on the situation at hand so that i can get my car running again. Also, The wiring bundle actually landed on the back of the turbo, basically where the downpipe meets the turbo...by the firewall...sorry for the typo. Anyway, i will be updating my situation...thanx for they help...

I wired my CA and the harness goes nowhere near the turbo. The ONLY part that even gets close to the turbo is the O2 sensor harness. The rest of the harness splits up behind the motor, one harness for the coil pack, the other for the injectors and what not.

Who wired your car? Im not saying you or who ever did a bad job, it just sounds kinda weird the way your explaining it and how it happend.

I would be curious to see how other people's car is wired then...I am starting to wonder now...but how then did you get the wiring over to the power transistor, the dropping resistor, the maf, and the condesor? The way mine is set up is it actually Y's next to the power transistor...then one goes to the coil packs, feul injectors and other sensors....then the part of the wiring goes to the power transistor, dropping resistor, etc... The way mine is wired is that it was lengthed a little back by where the Ecu goes through the firewall. I just looked at some of the pictures of when we obtained the clip, and the wiring is the same....it runs along the firewall over to the power transistor, etc... Overall, the wiring harness was on the firewall and somehow fell off onto the turbo...I don't know if that cleared anything up or confused people more...I will try to get a pic up soon...

I got your IM, ill get pics asap.

The way I wired mine, The ign chip and dropping resistor is on my passenger side near the battery tray. The coil pack harness is behind the motor but still clear from the exhaust manifold. The ony wires I extended are the MAF ones. The a/c one i didnt touch because im not in need of it yet. I wired my plugs after an SR diagram so according to that, my a/c should work with my old ka a/c plug.

The OEM wiring (LHD) starts at the passenger side (ECU) then splits into the actual engine harness (injectors, o2 sensor, aac, ficd, temp, cas, airregulator, etc) and the rest (maf, power transistor, dropping resistor)runs from the passenger fender to the front, under front bar (on top of cooler), to the driver side fender where the power transistor is located. This way it is impossible that any wires touch the turbo.

OK well i talked to NISMO1182 about how the wiring was done on his Ca and compared it to the way my wiring was done. The difference is mine is wired just like the clip that we recieved, where the wiring goes along the back firewall and then over to the power transistor and other sensors on the drivers side (Left hand drive that is) ...whereas others have the power transistor and other sensors wired on the passenger side. In reply to Chezina, that way would of worked well too, but i guess it is too late for that too..haha. But the good news is I pulled my ecu apart today to find that there was a good circuit or two thats was totally fried...it smelt soo bad, So at least I know it is my ecu for sure...now hopefully i will plug a new one in and nothing else will be fried. Oh well, do what i have to do, i just want my car running so i can enjoy the Ca!
