What would be the symtoms of a bad knock sensor? My car idles like crap and it will not drive very good under boost. It seems like a timing issue. Deffinatly not a boost leak.

Yes I've check for codes and I get 34 wich is the knock sensor. That is why I ask. If anyone knows how to time the cams on a sr correctly let me know because I think that is my biggest problem.

The knock sensor bolts on to the block, underneath the intake manifold. The plug for it is actually attached to the plug for the IACV valve. It has a two prong plug. Follow it to the sensor.

Today I took my iacv off to clean it. With that I took off the knock sensor. The knock sensor looks fine to me but that means nothing. It is super clean and everything and appears to be ok. It never gave me a problem before the rebuild. After cleaning the iacv I put everything back togeather and my car still runs like crap...

could someone with a running SR unplug their knock sensor for a second and see how their car reacts. It is the smaller plug that runs in between the intake manifold runners. there are 2 plugs there and it is the smaller of the 2.

havent found anything out yet...I took it off and inspected it. Everything looks fine. I want to see how a good running engine runs with it unpluged if some one is willing to experiment for us.

It is right under the intake manifold. There is two plugs that run in between the intake manifold runners and it is the smaller one if you want to try unplugging it...let me know if this is unclear cause I'm kinda drunk...good ol crown n coke....haha

So last night I took out my whole wiring harness and am going through the whole thing and fixing every little thing. Its kinda messed up so I hope this helps. I've allready found out that my iacv power was never hooked up. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

It's a common problem for alot of Nissans.

The KS typically will causing intermittant missing especially at higher TPS voltages (read: load). It can get to the point where it will stumble and misfire badly.

I would just look to replace it with a known working one.

From an SR, I bet most of knock sensors are the same ones from other engines. Ie. KA, VQ, etc.
