Hey guys - I have an issue with my '92 hatchback. Not 100% sure, but I think the engine is a KA24DE.

I replaced the valve cover gasket and sprayed Simple Green and water on the top and sides of the block to clean off the oil that had leaked through the old gasket.

The car ran fine before this project. Now it's idling like crap and has no power. I checked each cylinder by removing each plug wire with the engine running. No change when I pulled the plug in the cylinder closest to the front bumper. I replaced all 4 plug wires and the plug in that cylinder - still no change.

Does this suggest a bad fuel injector? I can hear it clicking, but I'm sure that's not a very thorough test. If that one's clogged or shot, should I replace all 4? If so - where's the best place to get them (best = cheap and good)?

Thank you!

if it's a bad fuel injector, you should be able to pull the fuel injector plug & nothing will change @ idle.

i would also check all vacuum hoses (especially ones around and behind the valve cover) since you said this wasn't happening prior to this project.

When you simple greened everything, did you take care to not spray any electronic sensors/parts?

Well, as of yesterday afternoon - it's running fine again. I guess there might have just been some trash in the injector... sure would be an odd coincidence though.

I probably got some water and/or Simple Green on the fuel injector connectors. I was careful not to get any down in the cylinders, but was a bit more cavalier on the fuel rail area... Think I might have temporarily shorted something out since it's working ok now?
