My vehicle is running extremly rough at idle and all speeds. I checked the resistance at the injector harness plug and all pins read 10-14 ohm except for one which reads 0 (#8 right back injector by heater hoses). I can't get a reading at all. Is this injector causing my problem? Also, how do I determin what color I need to buy? How difficult are these to replace?

If you don't have have a straight shot, you will have to pull the plenum.

Call the crew at http://www.infinitipartsusa.com for a price. If you are under the plenum, there is plenty else to do unless you want to get a lot of practive diong it over and overc

It's your lucky day. Injector #8 is one of 3 that are very easy to get to without removing the plenum. Rather than give you 101 tips on how to properly remove and install an injector, you should do a search on injector removal. Take 15 minutes and read the posts that come up and you'll feel confident taking on the job.

As far as injector color there are many here who say it will make no difference and just buy a "no dot" injector. But since it's #8 you should be able to easily remove the connector from the injector top, see the dot and then order up your injector ahead of time. It will be underneath the connector and be very faded after 15 years. I've pulled white dot and yellow dot injectors and they were both difficult to see.

Sounds like you may have a bit more going on than just one bad injector. Have you pulled the codes on the ECU? Any corrosion on connectors?

Good luck with the gremlins.

With no resistance reading at #8, could I have a continuity failure in the wire or is a zero resistance reading of a injector indicate a typical failure (BAD injector)?

You can never have ZERO resistance, just a resistance too high [infinity] or low to show on inexpensive meters. A 0.00000 reading would be a short.

if there's a short circuit, so changing the harness, wiring for the injectors is recommended?

thanks

Never seen a short circuit on a Q always some resistance or an open circuit [bad connector at injector].

A short circuit [low resistance] can damage the ecu switching transistor by allowing it to overheat and blow open.

A short circuit would probably blow the injector 10 ampere] fuse and shut the system down.

Are you sure you are reading the ohm meter correctly?

Animals can chew the wiring.

OK...I didn't get a zero resistance reading. There apparently is an open circuit. I perormed a continuity check on both wires and they are good. The RED wire is good from the connection at the injector back to sub-harness 1. Additionally, the WHITE/RED is good from the injector over to injector #2(RED). Could it be that the female part if the plug at the injector is not macking contact???? I cleaned it with CRC QD Electrical Cleaner. Boudreaux
