Bad Infiniti Warranty work- need your feedback pls.

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I just picked up my EX35 on June 2nd for a timing cover oil leak.

When I checked the car outside the dealership (they were closing that day) I was more concerned on dents and scratches in the body. I did not see anything out of the ordinary.

Went home and do my work and home routine. Yesterday, June 6 I was trying to wipe thise dead bugs stuck on the front bumper and I noticed that the bumper cover vibrates too much when I tap it with my hand. Somethinf that I never seen before.
The front bumper as I remember is tight and solid if I had to hit it with my hand. So I investigate more on the problem and found all these issues.

So here are all the issue I found .

1) Loose/vibrating front bumper. (Video below)

2) 4 broken upper front grill. (Below)

3) Missing screw on the wheel well front trim and bumper. (Below)

4) Upper edge of the front grill is cracked/broken. (Below)

5) Loose wires behind the front grill. Wires should be attached to the hole above.

6) Very minor , but how much is this tab worth? It is broken with out any tightening capability and just put in the hole. (Below)

7) Screw front undercarriage cover is very loose. Not a big deal, but this minor stuff tells the quality of the service dept. performing the work.

8) found this on top of the brake cylinder cover.

So picked the car up on June 2 and found this issue on June 6, about 4 days interval. How are you guys going to tackle this? I emailed the service manager and attached all these photos with descriptions. I also included a one minute video tapping the front bumper cover.

If the tech could make these issues were a customer can see it, how much pride in his work you think he did on those parts he replaced (timing cover chain leaks warranty work) that a customer won`t be able to see?

Doubt you'll get any satisfaction, but you never know. Be nice to know what dealer did all this so we can all avoid them like the plague.

That is pretty bad. I'm guessing that warranty work is reimbursed at lower job completion times and labor rates, and the tech probably felt the need to rush through it. It looks like that, combined with brittle plastic due to aging and heat cycling, lead to lots of broken pieces.

Hopefully they fix all their mistakes and make it right. Please let us know how things go and what they end up doing.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

So the service manager emailed me back and telling me she already ordered the Front Grill.
Also, when I drop the car on Thursday, she said they will check the car for other issues.

Can you guys please check if your front bumper is solid (sound solid) when you hit it with your fist? The area below the headlight and tap the middle part of the bumper. I know I remember when I hit the front bumper, it is pretty solid. I wonder if it tends to have a play once the bumper is removed vs stock from factory.

finally got the car and everything was fixed. New front grill, tabs, bumper is a lot tighter and solid. they should have done this on my first visit. No new dents in my car or scratches outside ( any techs reataliation)

Here is a killer. The next day I check the car again including the inside and here's what I found! it is definitely not there before bec. this time when I opened the front passenger
door, it stick as a sore thumb! i asked my wife if she notice this before and she is 100% sure it it new!

Front passenger door aluminum foot plate.

I emailed the service manager again and ask her to show this to whoever worked on my car that day. I told her I am not going back there not worth my time, but I really thanked her for helping me smooth things out.

it is for you to judge what happened here on the door foot step?

Hard to prove if it was dropped or intentional.

While it may not matter after this week, perhaps that little dent can be smoothed out a bit by a paintless dent removal specialist. If I were keeping the car for a while and it bothered me that much, I'd probably give it a shot.

Warranty work is frowned upon when your a technician specially when the work requieres a few hrs. They'll try to rush thru a job just to get to the next one and accumulate hrs. Which will bite him in the a** because he wont get paid for extra hrs if the car comes back. I think you just got dealt a bad hand with a lousy tech. Sorry you had to go thru all of that. I've been there and it sucks. I hope you kept the screw driver :chuckle:

Never seems to be an Infiniti dealer near by, but any other dealer you don't need would be 5 mins away. :bs:

I have the Infiniti Dealer that I bought my EX from and the next closest dealer is a few hours away in another state. At least my local one is awesome. They are very nice, remember your name when you randomly come in, and have excellent customer service
