I have a 1990 SOHC all stock and automatic, the problem is that when im driving and come to a stop my idle just jumps around from 200rpm to 600 back and forth and feels like it's going to stall. Once i put it on Neutral, it jumps up to 800ish but then it would drop again and jump around once again....Also, while driving the car feels weak when i hit the 3000 rpm range and when i turn off the engine it smells weird like i don't know gas with something else...There is no smoke or anything like that. Could this be my fuel pump going bad? any other ideas? thank you all.

I had the same isse on my 90' 5 speed. what I did to fix this was - I took off the I.A.A. unit (it's on the back of your intake man.) - took it apart and cleaned it with parts cleaner, I used brake cleaner - put it back together. - start the car and let it get to runnen' temp. - disconect the T.P.S. conector. - with the car on I moved the TPS back and forth and adjusted the idle screw on the I.A.A. - when it got smooth I hook everythang back up and it's been good ever sense. It helps if you look for vac. leaksand clean out your A.V.I.I used sea foam as well. my cars smooth now
