My passenger side headlight had went out recently, so I pulled the bulb. The bulb was blown, easy fix, so I replaced it. However the new bulb also blew immediately as I turned on the lights.

So now I'm trying to figure out if I just have really bad luck with bulbs and got a defective one, or if my ballast is bad. At $110 a pop, I'd rather not stick a second bulb in there to test it until I know for a fact that it was the bulb.

How can I test what caused my bulb to go out immediately?

It's your ballast....the oem ballast on the F50 is known to fail prematurely. If you're oem ballast lasted this long, you're one of the lucky ones. the OEM ballasts will be quite $$$, but you can find used ballasts on the likes of ebay, or you could just replace your ballasts with new aftermarket ballasts.

Agreed, Bad ballast. My passenger side went out. Replaced with after market ballast. not a perfect fit but a little strap holds in place just nice. going on 3 years with the new ballast and no issues.
