bad ground or something else

as i am typing this im on my way out to get a voltmeter, problem is this...

s13 with sr swap and battery relocated, drove it to buy something at a parts store and did not want to start over when i was there. the car does do the dinging noise with the key in and headlights come on and all, but this is the kicker, it is completely dead. anything that has to do with the turning of the key is dead. on that assumption i checked the grounds, and the fuses, theyre all good. so checked the the switch itself and there is no power going to it.

it got late so i called a flatbead and brought the car back to my place. next thing im checking are the relays. question is if this sounds familiar to anybody else or if any other electrical issues are out there that might cause this that i may be overlooking...
