Hi all,I have had a bad electrical problem for a while now and I have gotten to a point where searching is not helping so please bear with me while I try to explain the problem. This started about a year ago when somebody tried to steal my car and pulled out the ignition switch and apparently started it with a screwdriver, but then realized he was not going to get very far with the steering wheel locked.I recovered the car at the end of my driveway and went ahead and started it with a screwdriver, when I did i must have touched the wires to some metal because there was a large spark and then the car went totally dead. After some digging around I had found out that I had blown the 10a eng cont fuse and the 25a eng cont fuseable link under the hood.I relaced those and got the car back started and back in my driveway. When I turned the car off though all the idiot lights and my safc stayed on.So I did some research and found that it could be a relay problem so I replaced all the relays including the ones above the fuse block in the driverside kick plate. The car was still having the same issue when I left for basic training and medic school for the army.I have been gone for almost a year and have now came back and picked up where I left off.I started trying to read wiring diagrams to find the problem but I'm not to good with the diagrams.Up until this point The car would start if I charged the battery but as of yesterday I now have no spark and the idiot lights no longer come on at all,but the safc still stays on all the time so I think somehow the dash has lost all power and that's why the idiot lights are not working.I know it's a long story and I'm sorry but I am pulling my hair out with this and I just want to sell the car before I deploy this winter but I don't want to sell a broken car.
The car is a 92 240sx with a ca18 swap(I did not do the swap I bought it like this)and everything on the car worked fine until all this started.
Things to consider:
When I remove the alt fuseable link problem goes away(to be expected)When I put back the alt fuseable link the green egi relay buzzes.I have had the alternator tested and it was good.I have changed the ignition switch with a known good one
Please any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
