Just curious if any of you have had the EGRC BPT valve fail, and what symptoms you encountered. How does the car drive when this no longer is functioning?

I have never heard of one fail but I assume the EGR would not function so you would only loose valuable? MPG.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I just experienced this problem and changed my BPT. Since I didn't see to many threads about this, maybe someone will find this useful.

I found out the hard way that my BPT stopped working as I failed a Cali smog test, high NOx. If the BPT fails, the car will still run, but the EGR will not open, as the vacuum is leaking from the BPT. The BPT has to be able to hold that vacuum in order to open the the EGR.

Yes, my MPG sucked and had sucked for quite awhile and I could never really figure out why. I literally just installed it and the car feels much better. Hopefully it will cure my MPG woes and pass smog next week.

The BPT cost me $80, you have to get it at a dealership or one of the Nissan parts places on line.

Have you tested the BPT? It's very simple, but you will need a vacuum pump. Simply plug one of the top 2 ports (I used a rubber cap, a finger may work), put a clean tube on the bottom port and a hand held vacuum pump on the other top port. On the bottom port, gently blow air into the tube, then apply vacuum with the pump. Once the vacuum is applied, the vacuum should hold steady as you are blowing. If the vacuum starts to get lower, then the BPT is leaking.

If its is leaking, you can only replace it, can't be cleaned.
