Hey everyone,

Yesterday was a crummy day for my car... not because my landlady towed my car and charged me $200 to get it back, and not because the contruction next door later covered it in dust. It certainly wasn't because I hit every stoplight and was stuck behind every bad driver, or the fact that the road to my girlfriend's dorm was closed for unknown reasons, turning what is usually a 15 minutes drive into 45 minutes of pointless detours... no, none of those things ruined the day.

The day got ugly a little later. See, I was walking back to my car after getting a late lunch with my girlfriend, and I found the interior of my car COVERED in sticky corrosive goop. It was a can of Pepsi exploded in the backseat thanks to being under direct sunlight in 105 degree heat. Needless to say, as much fun as the drive home was, it still felt like sloppy seconds.

Oh well. I took Meguier's to all of the infected interior, which worked well enough, and the damamged upholstery was limited to the back seat and the back of the driver's seat, all of which will EVENTUALLY be replaced or reupholstered. But try as I might, I couldn't get all the Pepsi off the rear quarter panels and hatch. I tried Windex a couple times, but still left streaks of misty sugary goodness. At least the smell is gone. Any ideas of how to get rid of it entirely?

Thanks for the time everyone.

Try "Goof Off" or "Goo Gone" - these are brand name products available at Home Depot and Orchard Hardware Supply (here in California). They will probably do some damage to any seat leather though, so use some Lexol conditioner after you are done. Definitely try some hidden section of the seat meterial first!

good god....

maybe it's karma building up...

perhaps someone will steal it and do motor upgrades or swap only to have it recovered in better shape then you left it...
