Just did a compression test on my turbod kaAll was good until I hit the third cylinder

1st cylinder: 185psi2nd cylinder: 185psi3rd cylinder: 75psi Dry. 155 Wet.4th cylinder: 170psi

Is it alright to drive like this?I just put all my money into schooling and dont have any left.I read spooled's "sobered up" thread and i plan on the same idea.

Will I damage anything in the mean time driving at 11psi?I suppose i would need to change my oil quite often with all the fuel leaking through.

Any additional thoughts?

get her out of boost if you want her to survive any longer, i don't know what you have but if you still have all your stock, n/a part i would start putting them back on if you really need the car seeing that you are out of budget i assume that. otherwise am sorry to hear that, and i don't think there will be any other solutions if you wanna keep driving her.

Regardless if you put it back to stock you can't get away with anything. thats seriously a waste of time. The best way is to find a temp. ride and stop driving your car, it would only get worse.

also, what do you mean wet and dry? i'm assuming with oil added?

man that is probably a blown set of ring lands . Dont be suprised if all of the pistons have cracks/fractures. Last time around for me I had 175/50/160/55 all were blown, the 2 in the 50's were very bad.

if you want to do machine work keep driving it, the rings will melt into little steel pellets and wear grooves in the block. Making that block trash unless you go .02 over or more.

i agree, take it off boost, if anything swap the piston for another, its a little bit of work, but at least it will not destroy the the whole block, sleeves and other stuff. those pieces getting lodged in between piston and sleeve will do more damage. take off pan, headgasket , remove piston, replace with another one and drive it till a complete rebuild. a lot cheaper(and a little ghetto) than losing the whole motor . good luck.

Im now leaning toward swapping in another KA. I have a 97 with 200.XXX KMand I found a local 95 KA with 160.XXX KM. Im going to go take a look at it, it's not installed so I will do a manual compression check.

sounds like you have a good plan of action, it can sometimes be cheaper... my motor cost 150 bux.

I got the engine for 240$. what a coincidence It's all stock. Before I put the engine in, is there anything I should to to it while its out. Im installing clutch and flywheel. I dont have much money but is there anything I should do before I swap it in?

since i don't really know how you got the motor i just want to tell you this, make sure the crank has the right pilot bushing! if the engine came of an automatic car it will be different, also even if it has the right one it wouldn't hurt to replace it, they are cheap!! and like neverlift said front and rear main, especially the rear since its such a PITA after the engine is in, other than that i can't think of anything else you might wanna do before you slap it in!!

best of wishes! and am glad you found a solution so quick!!

if u r boosting, get that oil bung in on the pan. would also check the timing chain guides. what kind of mileage? its much easier to do everything while its out, just a pain in the a**(back) to do it in car...
