So... some things may be better left unknown.

My new 94QT with 45K has a sorted past. I thought...shezzzz. I wounder if its really a T. Went down and looked real quick and saw the sway bar. Don't these things have turning rear wheels?

It looks brand new inside, underneath saw a set of Tokiko blues---someone's maintained it or rebuilt it. Gotta put it up in the air!

Jersey hasn't inspected it for a while--musta been sitting.

When a 2 year old car [with 13,559 miles] is TOTALED one must assume $25,000+ in damage........in 1996 DOLLARS.............say $36,000 in todays repair costs based on simple inflation without the April 1 parts price increase....in 1996 T3 charged $49 per hour now $75 =53% higher labor

ONE MUST BE VERY CAREFUL IN VIEWING LOW MILEAGE VEHICLES.......99 out of 100 times there is always something wrong.

That's scary news! The flip side, is my "Q1" that was totaled last spring has a clear report. Apparently State Farm didn't report anything since I retained the title. The report just shows where the title was transferred to the guy who purchased it from me to repair. I guess carfax is like any database - only as good as what goes in...

Yup, before I dump anything into this one I'll have the infinity tech g50 guru go throught it.

Another thing...it could have been some insurance scam thing.

The word is...next time get a car fax. It would have scared me off this one...but...it drives great, tracks straight and smooth. Tires have even wear. The crazy thing is the paint looks original, I'll have a body shop give it the eye over.

Worst case...I'll sell it before it bites me in the butt. Best case...I have a great T.

if it hit a tree, it seems it would leave some sign of damage still?

ever pulled the carpet up?

Scam is a good scenario:)

Here are a few things to review.

First off I bet that car never saw the Carolinas. It was first in NY and they wanted cheap insurance so they titled, registered and insured down south.

I am even hesitant but not as much about the VA one as the mileage seems to little for a trip to VA but maybe not.

That Q has a shady past but hey you bought correct. Research needs to be done before a vehicle is bought.

Wes I believe the fear that he has is paying a premium price for a possible crap load on wheels.

Well,

I had it out for some sunbathing yesterday and it sure drives great. Except for a couple faint hood scratches and a rear bumper that needs a spray its show room shiny. Its freekin beautiful in the sunlight and it makes BlueVa (the new name for mr blue) look old and tired.

Opening the door and seeing no leather cracks is amazing for a 94.

Last year I drove 5 of them before choosing BlueVa, each one had issues as to be expected. Of all the Qs this one is the most primo I've driven.

I never thought about the NC registration thing for ins...makes sense.

And totaling it in the second year or ownership must have paid big---where's there's money....

Maybe Christopher owned it, Tony drives SUVs.

I just checked my record - the dealer that I bought it from said the Carfax was clean...

Found my beloved Q was injured in the left rear and reported at the St. Louis DMV.

I knew something was fishy, because the trunk gaps are slightly off.

Hopefully my local body shop will be able to align the panels a little better than the last guy that slapped it together. Because there are a few nicks and the hood has a lot of stone chips, I plan on a full paint job.

Another thing to look for whenever a vehicle is totalled with low miles is how many problems it has had in the following miles.

Example: my daily driver 1998 isuzu rodeo has a rebuilt title. In 1998, when it had about 5000 miles it was totalled, issued a salvage title, then a junk title, then a rebuilt title..... and it now has 103k miles on it with no problems at all. I bought it when it had 84k miles, and you would think that if something was going to go wrong with it - it wouldn't have lasted all these miles.
