Snag yourself a non-Bose '89-'94 Maxima "cupholder"/coin tray to stick below the Nakamichi HU and you're set. You keep the OEM look without having a gaping hole in the dash, gain two utterly nonfunctional cup holders (which the '90-'93 guys might still be excited about), and some more storage space.

Abso-friggin-lutely. I don't even bother looking at headunits without volume knobs. My Ford had a CHEAP CHEAP aftermarket headunit that was most assuredly a downgrade from stock and had no knobs, just buttons. Worse, every single button on the unit beeped like a cheap '80s digital watch when pressed. Just what I want, incessant beeping over my music as I try and turn it up!

In a 94-96, I prefer having a map pocket in the dash for cell phone storage. Easier than opening the center console lid.

The Nakamichi deck, I guarantee, sounds better than any of the mainstream (even mainstream high end) stuff you can buy.

Care to show us pics of what you mean?

I love my 1993 Q45, no cup holders, who cars I don't drink or eat or smoke in my car and I shoot who ever else does that in my car.

Q's aren't meant to be eaten in there meant to be driven.

Parked my Q overnight in downtown San Francisco, threw some clothes and stuff over the console to hide it. Tried to make it look like I slept in the car. Nav sure is nice though, but I am careful where I park

I tried to find a picture of it and not much turned up.Here's the best one I could find (it's the black piece below the ugly alpine HU).http://www.boostaholic.com/tmp/radio1.jpg

It's almost as deep as the face, gets shallower toward the back. It's lined with felt on the bottom to keep coin noise to a minimum. The "cupholder" section is a sliding cover to the tray with two circular cutouts. But they're odd sized (I've NEVER had a cup that fit them, one's way too small, the other too large) and it's too shallow to support anything anyway.

As for the second comment, anyone who does much long-distance driving will appreciate the value of a cupholder. Plastic recloseable bottles are a substitute for cupholders but the lowest of the low on the "drink taste quality" scale. I prefer to have a CAN or glass bottle of coke with me on long drives since they are vastly superior to plastic bottles. Cupholders make sure the beverage stays in the can or my belly and not the upholstery.

The '94-'96 Q cupholders are perfect for cans. You can latch the arm rest over the can, avoiding spills outside the cupholder recess and keeping the can out of the way.

No, I think that was a 1992 and it was in Binghamton, NY. In any case, they would not have used Sony amplifiers.

Driving a G50 is what it is all about.

Hey MXR662: Whats the name of that head unit? It looks almost exactly the same as mine.

Ditto... I really like the look of this one... it even has infinitely adjustable button color adjustments to get it to match your dash. And built in bluetooth.

Too bad the reviews are so bad. It's apparently very glitchy. Maybe they will come out with a new version that's better later in the year... and I'll have the cash available at the same time.

Update: I just read the more recent reviews. It appears that the November '08 update was a major improvment.

I was looking into those infinitys you suggested

In the literature its says it uses "true 4 ohm" for its 2 ohm speakers

TRUE 4-OHM TOPOLOGYAll Reference Series speakersinclude reduced voice-coil impedanceto extract the most power possiblefrom any and all amplifiers designedto drive loads of 4 ohms or less. Manyfactory-installed systems incorporate2-ohm speakers and include amplifiersdesigned to drive those loads. Merelyreplacing those reduced-impedancespeakers with conventional 4-ohmmodels is hardly an upgrade, sincethe power output from the amplifierwill be reduced. True 4-ohm topologyaddresses this as well.

Are these 4 ohm or 2 ohm? are the 2 4ohm speakers wired in series
