Hi All,

Quick Question...while having my 4th Transmission put in (that's right), they also replaced my left front axle, telling me it looked bad.

Now is it normal for an Axle to go at 28K miles?

I do not offroad and stay on paved roads...

Pls advise

Sorry to hear you are on the 4th transmission - gives us all concern. As for your axle I would not think it unusual for the axle to be damaged by the transmission parts that may have been broken and found there way into the axle housing or spline. Then again it could have been damaged with the many times times that the transmissions were replaced. Imo I would be glad they are replacing it. All in all I hope you have all your transmission problems behind you.

Now I am no expert BUT if the transaxle (that is what the front wheel drive transmission/axle combo is called because they are connected) and the transmission are not connected, how do you think the vehicle drives?

FWD vehicle engines are mounted transversely (sideways) to allow the engine, and transmission to connect directly to the driver's side axle. Where as a RWD is mounted so the transmission is under the cab of a vehicle, connected to a drive shaft which then connects to a differential in the center of the rear axle to put power to the rear wheels.

In short, the transmission IS linked to the axle. How they are linked, I am not sure but with a fourth transmission replacement, wear and tear on the axle is plausible depending on what exactly was wrong with the transmission.

After my 3rd transmission was installed I would get a pinging noise from the driver side when making right turns, was not consistent but people in the car always heard it. When I went to Nissan, they could never find a problem.

Most recently when the 4th transmission was put in the replaced the Axle saying it didnt look good. Not sure if it went bad on its own OR it was damaged with the all transmission replacements. Word of Advice, stay away from 08 Rogues....Nissan supposedly fixed the problems in the 09 Rigue...
