s*** day ever guys! We were on the way to Taupo racetrack driving State Highway 1, towing the V8 Skyline on a tandem behind the van. only around 5km from Taupo the trailer got a mad sway on, and Dad was not able to recover it. The trailer swung out onto the grass verge & trailer + car hit the bank, then the whole assembly rolled over. Van did a 3/4 roll and ended up on the driver's side, trailer did a full roll. My mate Reuben got thrown clear out of the van and broke his ankle on landing. I managed to brace myself and got knocked around a little, and same with JP in the back. I was pretty fkn worried about Dad, jumped out immediately and got him to wiggle his arms and legs to make sure he still had movement, then waited with him for the paramedics.

Long story short, Dad and Reubs are at Waikato hospital, their path to recovery has started. Dad seems in acceptable spirits considering he's braced and can't move his head. He's a tough old Dad and will claw back his recovery! Will be visiting plenty, and working hard while I try and source a new shell. Almost everything in it looks salvageable, so despite the extremely sucky situation, at least it shouldn't be too hard to put it right. Maybe I can get it done in time for when Dad's all good to come for a ride again

Well good news today! Went and visited Dad, one of his vertebrae is chipped, another is fractured, and one has moved over.. any further and it'd have taken out his spinal cord. :O Fortunately he's getting a proper neck brace bracket thing made up and it will be fitted tomorrow, meaning he'll be able to get up and about already! Although he's still gonna be resting and taking it easy, this is very good news and he should be able to fully recover in time :)

Reuben's managing ok, he's getting bored chilling up in the hospital waiting for a scan on his leg. James bought him a bunch of car magazines to read, so that will keep him occupied for a while.

All my friends are helping me source a new HR31 coupe shell so I can transplant all the gear into that, so version II will hopefully not be that far around the corner!

Meanwhile, here's a few more pics, check out how clean the underbody is & how mint the exhaust system came out!

The car was looking fantastic the day before the crash, we spent the whole day detailing and buffing it!

Bloody sorry to hear this mate :(
Glad your family is Okay, but after all the work and time it took you with this car - it's sad to see it end up like this.

Man I hate to hear that. I'm glad everyone is recovering. It still sounds like some pretty serious injuries. As for the car, yeah that sucks but you are resourceful and you'll figure it out in no time. Just remember, that which does not kill you makes you stronger, (author unknown). BEST OF LUCK TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!!
