Hello all,

Sorry first for not searching the topic which might be already asked and answered.
Has anyone installed those sensors, usually four, on the rear bumper, that woeks nearly perflectly? By 'perfecly' I mean the warning sound is consistant with the distance between bumper and the object at back? Consistant with environment temperatures? A good brand to recommend?

Some car has sensors on the front bumper too. Where shoul I get 12V power for the front sensors? From regular, constant 12V? I think it makes sense to use constant 12V for front sensors, at when the car is too close to an object, it gives warning...

I am considering it now and like to collect some info before I start. Thank you all for any info in advance!

I tried to install a no-drill magnetic back up sensor system from Canadian Tire (crappy canadian store).

http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/H ... ?locale=en

Couldn't get it to beep without physically putting my hand on the bumper.

Since the only proper way is to drill holes, And I don't even like the look of factory systems, I'm going to buy a back-up camera.

Thanks for the reply.

Does this magnetic sensor system have a sensitivity adjustment? I know the drill-hole type does not look good. If it is consistant, I can live with it.

I also though about camera. Do you like a wired camera or a wireless one? I saw there is rear view mirror with a built-in little screen used for back up camera. It is costly and I am not sure if it works well.

It had no adjustment.

I think I'd feel better with a wired camera

heres the one I'm looking at

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... K:MEWAX:IT

I figure that I'll just drill a hole between the two licenseplate lights and mount it there. That way it will almost look stock.

As for a screen,

I just bought, as of 5 hours ago a Refurbished Clarion VX400 (most OEM looking as I could find) off ebay for $217 CAD (Thank you auctions!) to which I'll be hooking up a wired camera.

I hadn't really thought about one of those rear view mirror screens. Really, I was in the market for a double din anyways so this all works out - Currently theres a single din pioneer deck installed that isn't hooked up to the steering wheel controls, looks tacky and cheapens the interior.

Yes, in-dash screen is the best. I wonder how much it is for a genuine Pathy or QX4 in-dash screen, and if it has an additional video input.
My mod if I ever want to do, is to add on someting, not a major taking out the original. That leaves me only two choices, a screen standing on the dash or a rear view mirror with built-in screen. None of them is good enough. Standing screen is not integrated and looks a little out of place. Screen in a mirror is too small. That makes me think to go with audio beep only.

I haven't decided yet.

Lots of luxury cars have rear bumper sensors. Do they also have back up cameras at the same time? I think having both would be very nice.
