Again, I took 15 seconds of my time, searched Google, and found the answer to your "dilemna". Why is this concept so hard to grasp? Search, people. Search.

Scroll down to the backspacing to offset chart.

Backspacing and offsetare directly related. Jerome's link provides a great explanation.

Now why did you chose those wheels?? Not that its a bad choice, but Ive never heard of Diamond before.

awsome, the backspace to offset conversion chart is exactly what i was looking for. thanks

as for the wheels, not only are they cheap, but they're strong, lightweight, and come in tons of different sizes and offsets

Actually, they're not really lightweight at all. 16 x 8 is around 21 lbs??

Hmmm ... the chart looks incorrect to me.

For example, a 6.5" wheel has a centerline at 3.25". Therefore, a backspace of 3.25" should mean 0mm offset. Yet, the chart shows it at -12mm.

I put together a little speadsheet that shows the error ... the chart in this link seems to be consistently off by 12mm to 13mm.

Did I get it wrong?

Here are my spreadsheet calculations (you kinda have to put this back into Excel to see the columns line up ... sorry about that!):

Yep. You got it wrong. A 6.5" wide wheel is actually 7.5" wide by measurement, meaning centerline at 3.75 inches, so a backspace of 3.25 inches would mean a -0.5" or -12.7mm offset.

Make sense?

^ The mounting width of the wheel is 6.5", but the overall width is 7.5"...
