Hey guys I have a question. In the first Gen Q, there is the little storage area that is in the back parcel shelf. Any idea as to if a small DVD player was put back there would affect the sound. From what I understand, the trunk is like a vault, nothing in and nothing out, which is why ther eis such rich deep base from the rear. If they put a DVD player back there I thought that would open the trunk up for air flow that shouln't be there.?

If your worried about a rattle because of vibration in the DVD player, just do what I did and install a DVD/MP3 player in the rear armrest. I gutted out the rear armrest and stuffed a Mobile Authority DVD/MP3 player in there. All the power, a/v and remote control eye wires are hidden nicely. I placed the remote eye near my steering column so when I point the remote at my CD deck it has full control of the DVD system. No rattles or vibrations and I always get great video and audio quality. Blaupunkt currently makes a DVD/MP3 system that is the same as the one I have except its white instead of black. I am however going to sell the entire video system and install a small computer system in its place. Complete with 10" LCD screen where my 5.6" LCD screen is (replaces rear-view mirror) and a 17" LCD monitor in the trunk for shows. With the computer system I'll be able to play MP3's, Watch videos (both DVD and downloaded videos) and play games. Should turn out super-duper! :D

I was considering putting a flip-down screen in the roof for the kids and running a DVD player in the trunk, sealing the wiring entry/exit points...

Whatta ya think?

A flip-down screen would be nice. Would you replace the ceiling lights (between front seat headrests) with the flip-down unit? That would rather snazzy and can hide away easily. I mean...who looks at the ceiling of a car anyways. There could be a problem with interferance with the sun-roof though. As for the DVD player in the trunk...just remember that if a DVD needs to be changed or sumpthin, you'd need to pop the trunk and get out of the car to fiddle with it. Perhaps you can get a Flip-down screen that has a built-in DVD player? Sorta like this one...http://www.partsexpress.com/pe...DID=7Whilst that is pricey, its an all-in-one package with an 8" screen. Its really all up to you if you want just pure functionality or to jazz it up a little. :D

Good feedback - Thanks Jeff. I'm thinking the screen to replace the ceiling lights would be perfect... Maybe the DVD player in the rear armrest? I'd like to see pics of your install if possible.

As it'd only get used very rarely, I'd want to stay within a budget.
