I would like to replace my rear window on my convertible. I would like to get an opinion from those who have taken out the entire backlight piece of the convertible top. My idea is to
1.take that backlight piece out,
2. unstich/seam rip the old window out
3. trace and cut out new window out .40 gauge UV Treated boat vinyl
4. Hand stitch or sew in using sewing machine the new window
5. Replace the backlight.

I am pretty confident with hand stitching and sewing, but would like to get some opinions from those who have removed and replaced the backlight, is it a difficult task to retain the original stretch of the top? Or does my idea sound ludicrous? Any tips would be great

Thank you!

Sounds like a whole lotta work when your gonna pay $40.00 to $50.00 for a good piece of UV vinyl and you can get the entire backlight assembly shipped for $80.00.

How difficult was the installation of the new curtain?? I saw that you have done the same thing, and would like your input please.
