Hi All, just got our 2008 Rogue yesterday from a Nissan dealer, my wife loves the car. Ive read all that I can about the CVT tansmission before purchasing the car, test drove it and checked all components before committing on buying it, All seems fine.

Now I got home I'm backing it up on our driveway, there is a slight hump maybe about the height of a 2x4 wood. From a dead stop I cant go over this 2" hump, if my rear wheel is right on it, I have to be about a foot away from the hump and back up so I have momentum to go over it. has anyone experience this? Is it normal? I'll try to post a video.

The car is fine backing up to a slight incline. I might have to test on a steeper one

When I searched in the net, I only found similar problem with a guy on a Subaru Outback forum that apparently has a differential problem on newer outback

welcome to the Nissan Infiniti Car Owners forum. the is the #1 forum for rogues. congrats on your new purchase.

just try giving it more gas. you are just being gentle footed because its a new car.

i tow a 350lb trailer with a 400lb bike + another 200lbs in gear and i drive the trailer in backwards into my garage and sometimes i end up having to either drive the trailer wheels or the rear rogue wheels over the sloping portion of a curb that leads into the driveway. it ends up being at times 2inches or more of curb. you just have to give it more gas- thats all.

dont forget our car is awd, when going 6mph and below- UNLIKE other cars that are always FWD until the wheels begin to slip (honda crv, etc). so that means more power is lost in energy(to make the rear wheels).

Thanks ImStricken, did more testing and yes I guess giving it more gas works :), I kinda have to rock it a bit with a backward momentum to go over the hump, same as the front wheel. We are pretty happy with the purchase even though its a second hand vehicle.
