Backfire?

Got rid of this...



Now it does this...



No header, no aftermarket exhaust, no nothing. Bone stock ka with a gutted cat and cheap ebay muffler tip. What im wanting to know is, is this normal? It doesn't smoke when its warm out and it backfires a few times when i let off the gas. Usually more with lower octane rather than higher (guessing because lower octane is more combustible than higher octane?).

hahaha. My vert does that, when I'm shifting into 2nd sometimes it backfires, and if I'm in 4th gear and doing around 50mph and let off the gas and hit the gas it backfires. LOL. I got stock header with downpipe to 3in exhaust, no cat.

its normal, because of no cat your running a tad rich and the unburnt fuel occasionally ignites and creates your backfires.

thats sweet, had my 240 all of three days and noticed it backfired far more than my previous vg30e powered 200sx. really had me wondering for a second if it was ok or not. thanks for the answer.

check for leaks in your exhaust. my 240 did that and it was because of hairline cracks on my header. my flames were about 3 foot long and it was fun driving by people on the highway. backfired very very loud resulting in the other drivers slamming on their brakes lol

I hear mine backfiring alot, does that mean you can actually see the backfire? I thought it was just a noise lol I've got no cat, 3" apexi exhuast

Mine backfires alot too but only really shoots any flames maybe half of the time. Make an exhaust video to check like i did!

never noticed/hear of shooting flamesbut mine has no cat with a 2.5" straight exhaust with 2.5" muffleri like the occasional backfire =]

i hear mine backfire alot. ive got an aftermarket header with a "cutsom" exhaust. its just 2 or 2.5 in pipe to a cherrybomb, a flex pipe, and then straight pipe. on a mostly stock kade

i have a test pipe w/ the N1 duals and i can't shoot flames

are you guys running straight pipes or do you have a resonator under there?

go do doughnuts for a few minutes and then tap the gas free revving at high rpm. it will blow em!

haha nah dude i had my old tubular glowing orange after doing figure 8's for 5 minutes straight lol

i popped my hood to cool it off and let it idle for a while and i noticed light under the hood..i was wtf i don't have a engine bay light haha it cracked to s*** not long after

lol i did the same thing. i was drifting in a parking lot and i got out to let my friend do it and i saw a red light glowing under my car (ground was wet and reflecting) and that was when i figured out i could blow flames lol. good s***

i didn't blow flames tho

sometimes it will pop really loud if i shift or let off the throttle at really high rpms 6500+

mine pops everytime I let off the throttle lol, even when I shift gears it pops lol coming to a stop all i hear is pop pop pop pop Lol

replace your exhaust mani gasket. will probably fix that. i was running a long tube header with hks hi power and i didnt get popping all the time. fix your leak lol

I have the same set up and my car doesnt even backfire... or pop for that matter, and i have no cat just straight pipes haha?

Yea seriously, I don't shoot flames and I have headers, no cat and Hi-Power...

Maybe it is all in the canisters of the exhausts?

BTW, spooled, your 240 looks SWEET!
