My sr20DET is backfiring, misfiring, and running rich/smoking the gas. Is there anything i can do w/ my boost controller and AFC to combat these problems? I want to fix these problems before i put in new sparkplugs. Thanks

Check the normal things (or at least the things that I have checked on mine). If you have a voltmeter and other tools:

TimingTPSMAFCoolant temp sensorFuel Pressureo2 sensorBoost leak (even a small leak can cause wierd things to happen)Are you using a catalytic converter? Is your BOV vented or recirculated?Spark plugs?Fuel Filter?

There could be more "little things" to check that I am not thinking of, but if all of those are OK then I guess you would have to look deeper (e.g. modded ecu, if your injectors are stock, compression test). I know when I first put mine together, mine was running super rich--gasoline cologne as I like to say. Found out that I had a rather nasty boost leak. Once I took care of that, it didnt run nearly as rich. However I still get the backfire which I am still stumped about.

Download a factory service manual, or search for some specs on here for voltages, timing, etc. I am wrong 99% of the time when it comes to diagnosing, so I would say just check everything.

i'm having the same problem with mine. when i give the car more than like 1/16 throttle, it bogs and misfires. idk wtf is going on either. im going to check for boost leaks later today though and see if i find anything.
