I have a stock S14 SR20DET (Zenki) in my car with a testpipe, hks hi-power exhaust, intake, and greddy downpipe. My car backfires every time i change gears. I just wanted to know if that is normal and if it is good or bad. Cuz i've heard that its not bad, and then i hear that it can mess up the turbo. So i don't know what to do. My spark plugs are also gapped at 28 if that makes a difference. Thanks for the help.

backfire indicates rich condition or the use of a test pipe...

Do you run open atm BOV? If not, it's probably the test-pipe or your timing is off and your running rich.
