Back up Camera

Hi all recently purchased a 04 qx 56 knowing there was an issue with the back up camera but now i would like to fix it.whenever the camera initiates all i get on the screen is static nothing else. Any ideas on what the problem may be? Thanks in advance

That is a tough one, could be many different things, but I would have no clue where to start. Try calling the dealer to see if they have any ideas.

Lol I called them and all I got was you have to bring it in so we can check it out

That is what I was afraid of, could be as simple as a loose wire somewhere, but how do you diagnose is the issue.

You could try looking at the camera connection to see if it is compromised. My rear glass window release switch has failed twice b/c moisture is getting down in that area. This same area where the switch is located is also where the camera connection is. You have to remove the tailgate panel to gain access to this but we can walk you through it if you want to play around with it. My guess is your problem is somewhere here as opposed to a problem with the wiring to the nav screen where the image is displayed.

Huh?? You can't see it from underneath the truck. I mentioned that you have to gain access to this connection through the tailgate panel. It's within the tailgate and you will need to remove the panel inside the truck that covers the tailgate.
