I have grown weary of the political talking and bickering as of late. The exchanging of ignorance is clogging up my computer and is not conducive to good taste and comradery.

NurturingIgnorant CloudedOpinions

I preferred Nissan Infiniti Car Owners Club.

Let us bring it back to its true glorified origin my Brethern!!What is NICO?

I too have been a bit unnerved as of late due to the political brouhaha. The hodgepoge of opinions and expelled energies would be better served on other topics methinks. But I do realize that although NICO is our microcosmic world the issues of the "real" world still exists here. The political threads are getting long-winded and have run their course.

I am sure there are opposing opinions....

There are currently about 500 replies to political threads on the front general page alone so we may be in the minority.

For the record and in all honesty I didn't vote for the turd. I knew someone would though.

While I think that such discussions are an excellent way to open the eyes of those that may not have been inclined to pay attention to these issues before, it is obvious that the vast majority of NICOites don't appreciate the conversation.

Oh, but then again we can pretty much talk about whatever we want to, and if people don't like it... they don't have to read or respond. Lock 'em up if you want... just think about the reason behind it, and make sure that is in the best of NICO.

I honestly can't see the harm in letting the discussions go on. No one forces anyone to read the threads... and those of us that participate are mature enough to not take it personally. Give us some credit for cryin' out loud! How shallow would I be if I dislike a person based on their misguided political opinions?

These 'politial' threads must contribute to the traffic flow that dictates the value of advertising revenue. They are just about the only reason some of us visit this site every day. Look at the most active users... and a lot of their names will pop up in those threads. I don't own a Q.... and the 240 boards are pretty lame as of late... so why else come here. It's certainly not for the fun of being told what NOT to talk about.

Well Dees... I would have voted for the "automotive works of art", but then you had to go and add the dis on 240s... so.... a steamy turd NICO is! ;) j/k Fred!

Hey Maine, that argument was used before the ring was axed but good points nevertheless. And you are right, the 240 section is a hot steamy turd.

I agree with Maine here - I'm a big enough person to base my decisions as to whether to like or dislike someone on more than their comments in a forum. Besides, if we were all a bunch of car guys, hanging out in the same place, we'd certainly talk about more than cars. Girls, sports, academia, politics, our families, etc - No topic would be "off limits".

That's exactly what NICO is: A place to get together with several old friends, meet some new friends, learn something, and share life. When it ceases to do so, I'll be gone.

We've discussed this before TS. When your 240 can outrun the slowest Q on this board, then we can talk about farting dust.

My Q farts Civics. :D

I say we leave the political threads open... I don't read them, but it's obvious by the 300 some odd posts in the Iraq War post, that other people do. I figure if they don't like it or aren't as interested in it as in other posts, they don't have to read them. After all, this is the General Chat section...:D

A bonneville is by no means "an American Q". Detroit hasn't buit anything to match the fit/finish, build quality, technological innovation, styling, timelessness and power per liter of the 1st-gen Q45 YET.

By all means, keep making fun of him.

Man, I can't believe how thin skinned some people are. As far as I know the dedicated forums are still up and running for car talk. It's actually good that there is an area to bandy about current events on this site. Deeso, do like I do: ignore threads that don't interest you. No says you have to read every post on the site. However, the impending war is the greatest single event of our lives currently and should not be ignored.

BTW, I might vote if someone could explain to me what the third option means. :D

I dunno, I kind of like the political threads, sometimes its just enlightening to hear what someone besides yourself thinks. The war is kind of a big deal, maybe not for people living in this country, but for people over in the middle east, the sense of impending doom something like war brings causes problems everywhere, this is where most of the terrorlst jump in to justify their attacks on this country. I lived in Jordan during the first gulf war when I was like 9, even though our country wasn't attacked, we had to live in fear every day that our lives as we knew them would be gone in the blink of an eye. Sorry, I know I'm rambling, I'm just trying to show my point of view, and I would love it if more people here would do the same. If you don't like it, then I'm sorry I wasted your time. Its just something to think about.
